Speaking to Variety, Rachel confirmed that she was in touch with creator and star Tina Fey about working something out.

Tina and I sort of dabbled with a few ideas, but it was tough to make it all work in the end,” she explained.

While Rachel is not in the new movie, Tina is returning as down-on-her-luck math teacher Ms. Norbury, and Tim Meadows is back as Principal Duvall.

Despite the cameo not working out, Rachel made it clear that she was excited for the new movie. “I was really down for whatever she wanted to do. I think the direction it went in will be fantastic and I cannot wait to see it,” she told the outlet.

The film hits theaters on January 12, 2024. Check out the trailer!
