Check out these brand new rehearsal shots from the upcoming production of Hairspray Live!!

The behind-the-scenes pics feature stars Harvey Fierstein, Jennifer Hudson, Derek Hough, Martin Short, Garrett Clayton, Ephraim Sykes, Shahadi Wright Joseph, and Maddie Baillio getting ready for the big show.

In case you didn’t already know, Hairspray Live! takes place in 1962 Baltimore and is based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.

Here’s the synopsis: Plump teenager Tracy Turnblad’s dream is to dance on “The Corny Collins Show,” a local TV program. When against all odds Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight and meets a colorful array of characters, including the resident dreamboat, Link; the ambitious mean girl, Amber; an African-American boy she meets in detention, Seaweed; and his mother, Motormouth Maybelle, the owner of a local record store.

Tracy’s mother is the indomitable Edna, and she eventually encourages Tracy on her campaign to integrate the all-white “Corny Collins Show.”

Mark your calendars – Hairspray Live! will air on Wednesday, December 7 @ 8PM ET/PT on NBC.

Dove Cameron and Garrett Clayton are madly in love. Well, not really, but they want you to believe that they are.

“Crazy in love! Spread the rumors,” Garrett joked during the recent Hairspray Live! junket.

It’s all part of the duo’s campaign to be cast to perform together in an upcoming rendition of Wicked. Garrett has his eye on the role of Flyero and Dove is vying for Glinda.

“I’ve been wanting to be Glinda since I was 7-years-old and I heard the soundtrack!” she said.

“Dove and I have talked about it a few times,” Garrett told JJJ. “We want to work together and we’d be perfect for the roles.”

“We are both musical theater nerds,” she added. “They’ve been waiting to do the Wicked movie for 10 years and they really want to get it right. And we’re the perfect ages for it. Those are some of the most sought after roles.”

“It’s just an incredible show and it’s fun to do. Who doesn’t love The Wizard of Oz backstory?” Garrett said.

Dove admits that her infatuation with Wicked has led her to become incredibly star struck over the fact that Kristin Chenoweth portrays her mom in Hairspray Live! And it’s the second time the duo has played mother and daughter.

“We do The Descendants franchise together for Disney Channel and she plays Maleficent and I play her daughter Mal. So I met her back in the day,” Dove said. “They called me when I was on the set of Liv and Maddie and they told me it was going to be her and I full on had a genuine breakdown. I was walking around Hollywood Center sobbing like, ‘Oh my God!’ She was my hero, starting from age seven. I remember getting picked up from kindergarten hearing her voice.”

Though they’ve heard a lot about each other for years, Dove Cameron and Ariana Grande had never met before Hairspray Live!.

So when they were first introduced on set, Dove was extremely excited.

“She’s really cool�a total sweetheart,” she told JJJ. “We have actually a lot of mutual friends. My best friend Colton [Tran] is a good friend of hers and I’m really good friends with Jennette [McCurdy]. We’ve always sort of been in the same similar circles with Nickelodeon/Disney but we actually had never met. I had met [her brother] Frankie and I met her mom a couple times.”

The night before the Hairspray Live! press junket, Ariana had the gang over to her mom’s house to celebrate.

So what’s a hang with the “Dangerous Woman” singer like?

“It was great,” Dove said. “We were all just around the fire eating chips and salsa. And I brought vegan mousse. I was in the corner with Ari and Ephraim [Sykes] and Colton talking about life and relationships. It’s just good. Everybody is sweet. It’s a good blend of professionalism and real friendships.”

Dove Cameron is slowing transforming into Amber Von Tussle!

The 20-year-old actress has been busy at work on Hairspray Live rehearsals, and even gave fans a sneak peek at her wardrobe fitting.

“wardrobe fittings|little miss von tussle @nbchairspraylive,” Dove captioned an Instagram pic of herself rocking a gorgeous green dress.

The musical takes place in Baltimore in the early ’60s, when teenager Tracy Turnblad lands her dream role on the popular Corny Collins Show and becomes a dancing sensation overnight, crossing paths with a colorful array of characters along the way.

It premieres on December 7 @ 8 p.m. on NBC!

Garrett Clayton has nothing but amazing things to say about his Hairspray Live co-stars!

The 25-year-old actor, who will be playing Link Larkin, recently opened up about how rehearsals are going.

“The level of talent that we have working on this show is insane, Garrett told Access Hollywood. “Everyone showing up is so on point. It’s always at 10. We’re pretty excited.”

Ariana Grande and Dove Cameron just killed it at the Thanksgiving Day Parade!

The two diva songstresses performed “You Can’t Stop the Beat” alongside their Hairspray Live cast including cutie Garrett Clayton and newcomer Shahadi Wright Joseph.

“I had no idea what to expect from [my co-stars] Jennifer [Hudson] or Ari (Ariana Grande),” Dove has said. “Both have turned out to be the most adorable, down-to-hang. They are like really good friends.” She adds, “They’re really like care-taking people. They don’t walk around like world-famous vocal divas. It’s been an education in all ways.”
