J.K. Rowling Reveals Secret About Severus Snape No One Knew Except Alan Rickman

J.K. Rowling has revealed a secret she told Alan Rickman about his famous character Severus Snape while filming Harry Potter.

In a 2010 interview with RTE, Alan mentioned that J.K. had given him a piece of information about the character that affected the way he played the role.

“She gave me one little piece of information, which I always said I would never share with anybody and never have, and never will,” Alan said. “It wasn’t a plot point, or crucial in any tangible way, but it was crucial to me as a piece of information that made me travel down that road rather than that one or that one or that one.”

When a fan asked J.K. about the secret on Twitter after Alan passed away, she opened up about what she had confided, writing, “I told Alan what lies behind the word ‘always.’”

The show will be featuring Harry, Ron, and Hermione as adults and Jamie Parker (pictured to the right) will take on the title role in the play.

The actress playing Hermione Granger is Noma Dumezweni and Paul Thornley will be playing Ron Weasley.

“I’m so excited with the choice of casting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I can’t wait to see Jamie, Noma and Paul bring the adult Harry, Hermione and Ron to life on stage next summer,” author and playwright J.K. Rowling said in a statement.

Here is the synopsis of the play: “It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”

Performances start on June 7, 2016 and there are two parts to the play, which can be seen separately or on the same day.
