Ahead of the premiere tonight @ 8PM ET/PT on Disney Channel, the two actresses took to social media to pay tribute both to the long-running Disney franchise and to Cameron Boyce, their co-star, who passed away earlier last month.
“Today is the day… Im filled with so many emotions. Gratitude, love, sadness, grief, happiness… Today we celebrate the most incredible boy I have ever known. Cameron. I love you,” Sarah wrote, along with sharing a few images of them together and a clip from set.
She continues, “Today is hard. But this film is filled with the essence that was you, and that is the most beautiful thing to witness. How incredibly grateful I am to have called you a friend. Words will never express this loss, but today we reflect on the special memories we were so lucky to create with you.”
“To the cast, to the Boyce’s, to Kenny and our whole family… I love you all deeply. Thank you for this half a decade of pure magic. 💙💙💙 #descendants3.”
The 23-year-old actress, who starred with Cameron in the upcoming Descendants 3, opened up about how grateful she is to have been part of his short life.
“We were at a friend’s house for a Fourth of July barbecue,” she remembers about spending the holiday with Cam just two days before his shocking passing. “It was a normal awesome day. He was so happy. We’d never see him unhappy.”
Sarah adds that having friends who knew Cameron as well has made the pain a little more bearable.
“Being able to be with a community that is also grieving and understands how incredible he was has been a crucial part of the healing process,” Sarah says. “I’ve been able to surround myself with people who knew him and we can tell stories and cry when we need to and laugh when we can.”
She added, “There is no one like Cam. It’s a horrible loss. But I’m so grateful to have known him for his far too short time with us.”
Sarah and Cameron‘s new movie, Descendants 3, will premiere on August 2nd on Disney Channel.
Sarah Jeffery is remembering Cameron Boyce in a touching new Instagram post that will warm your heart, instead of breaking it in two.
The 23-year-old actress, who starred with Cameron in the Descendants franchise, opened up about how lucky they all were to be a part of his short-lived life.
“Putting pen to paper after something like this is difficult to say the least…I don’t really know what to say. My heart is broken. But I do feel that any experience with Cameron is one worth sharing,” Sarah writes. “What I can say is, I will miss him so deeply and my heart is shattered for those who were close to him, for they know how much he loved them and how lucky we all were to experience the rarity that was Cameron.”
She continues, “My heart absolutely aches for the Boyce’s and for his closest friends. For my Descendants family. For those he impacted from a distance. Cam only ever spoke or acted out of a place of love, and lead by example.”
“Over the time I knew him, both from near and far, I was never not astounded by his endless humanity and his care for those he knew, and those he didn’t. He radiated a palpable light. How cruel life is to take him away.”
“I love you forever TCB, thank you for showing me what it means to live life to its absolute fullest. Your endless joy and love and goodness was completely singular and the world is now lesser off…. This does not seem real. I will miss you so much my dear friend.”
The co-stars took to their Instagrams to share their favorite photos with Cameron and while Sarah was still speechless, Brenna penned a touching tribute.
“I don’t have the words right now. All I can say now is that Cameron had so much more to do and so much more to give. He was amazing in so many ways. I will miss him forever. My heart goes out to his mom, dad, sister and everyone who loved him so so much. ♥️,” Brenna wrote.
The young Lion King star wore a cowboy themed look for the red carpet premiere at El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on Tuesday night (June 11).
But JD wasn’t the only one in a themed look - Sydney to the Max‘s Christian J. Simon was also seen wearing a fun Toy Story themed blazer with the iconic title song, “You’ve Got A Friend In Me”, inscribed on the back.
