Not only will the 20-year-old actor star in the pic, he’ll also produce. The flick is a “dramatic tale of a young man’s struggle with mental illness, love and a deep-rooted family secret.”
Josh shared of the film in a statement, “We strongly believe in the global appeal of this project and we’re excited to work with [producer] Bree Herzog and team. Ape is a passion project for us and to see it get made would truly be a dream come true.”
Opening May 22nd, the film tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good who keep the natural world alive and the forces of evil who wish to destroy it. When a teenage girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters in order to save their world…and ours.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
