Katherine McNamara's Most Prized Possession in High School Is Pretty Perfect For Her

If you don’t know by now, Katherine McNamara is the biggest math nerd in the game and she owns it.

After graduating from high school at 14, and then college at 17, the Shadowhunters actress has been vocal about the importance of education and her own love for business and finance.

So, in a recent interview with Popular TV, Katherine gave the most perfect answer to her most prized possession in high school.

“My pink graphing calculator. I was and always will be a HUGE math nerd,” she shared proudly.

Katherine also opened up about her financial knowledge with RAW and how she uses it today.

“I like having a business degree is because I’m able to really manage my career like a CEO,” she said. “I can run my career as though it’s a business, read my contracts, and understand my investments. I can look at everything as a whole and see it from a management perspective, which has been super beneficial. My attorney loves that I have twenty questions on every contract.”

Katherine McNamara, Monique Coleman and Brooklyn & Bailey hold up signs around them, celebrating the new Dream Big Princess campaign.

If you’ve watched Disney Channel, you’ve probably seen bits and pieces of the campaign, which celebrates inspiring stories from around the world to encourage kids everywhere to dream big.

To celebrate the campaign even more, Disney worked with 19 female photographers from around the world to create a series of empowering images showcasing real-world girls and women, as part of the initiative and taps into the power of Disney Princess stories to inspire kids.

The photographs shared online will go on to help raise funds for Girl Up.

From now until October 11th, Disney Worldwide Services will donate US $1 for any public post of a photo using #DreamBigPrincess or like of such a post on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, for a minimum donation of US $500,000 and a maximum of US $1 million.

That’s so great!

JJJ spoke to two of the photographers — Cristina Mittermeier and Kate Parker — about their own photographs in the collection.

Cristina relates to Moana, who she describes as “[having] an unwavering determination to protect and celebrate her culture. She follows an innate calling to decide for herself who she wants to be.”

Kate adds, “Dreaming big means dreaming without limits of any kind. Dreaming of a goal and creating the opportunity to invest 100 percent of yourself into that goal to achieve it.”

Her role model? Belle, of course.

“Belle is ambitious. She realizes that knowledge is her way to the larger life she is dreaming of and doesn’t allow anyone’s opinions affect her. She didn’t change to please anyone and I love that.”

If you ever meet Katherine McNamara, you know she’s just about the happiest person on the planet.

But, there was a time that she was in a dark place.

The Shadowhunters actress opened up to RAW about realizing what was going on years later, and how she got through it with really good friends.

“A couple years ago, there was a time something happened in my life where my trust was broken in a major way and I didn’t realize at the time,” Katherine remembers. “I became introverted and a couple years later, I made some really good friends. I’ve grown up a little bit and have become more secure with who I was as a person.”

She continues, “Then suddenly, I was able to look back and go ‘wait a minute, I wasn’t myself for the last couple years, but now [I'm] on the other side of it.’”

“It’s all about making decisions,” she adds. “You choose to do things that are good, positive, happy, and beneficial, and if you choose to have a good day, choose to have these things, then you can. It’s possible.”

Katherine McNamara is all over New York City right now, promoting the season finale of Shadowhunters tonight.

The actress, who plays Clary, stopped by BUILD Series to chat about what’s coming up in the hour-long episode and also spoke to EW about how Clary almost feels guilt about the mess that Valentine is leaving in his path.

“What she feels for Valentine is a tragic loss and a resentment and almost a responsibility to clean up his mess because so many people have died and have been hurt because of his actions and because of his actions toward her,” Kat explains. “She’s done with that.”

She adds, “Clary is done with people dying. Clary is done with losing people she loves and hurting people she loves because of this evil maniac, so Clary is ready to fight to the death to stop that from happening.”

And for who she looks to as a real father? Luke!

“I think Luke will always be who Clary thinks of as a father.”

Katherine McNamara Teases 'Shadowhunters' Season Two Finale

Get ready for some intense scenes and shocking surprises on the season two finale of Shadowhunters!

One of the show’s stars Katherine McNamara is spilling on all that is about to go down in the upcoming episode.

The 21-year-old actress recently explained that there’s going to be some causalities!

“You’ve definitely seen one major death, but we’re still a long way from the finish line. Stay on your toes, grab some tissues, grab the comfort food of your choice. This finale is brutal, you’re going to need it,’ she told TV Guide.

She added that the episode will include some drama between Jace and Clary.

Katherine said, “It’s truly that the two of them are meant for each other, and if they can overcome these obstacles, they will be able to, hopefully, have their happy ending. But the obstacles are pretty intense, and we’ve got some surprises in the season finale.”

And the best surprise of all? Katherine‘s first single is featured in the episode!

“My first original single is on the soundtrack of the finale and is being released on Monday…It’s really special to me. It’s one of the first songs that I wrote that I’ve finally felt was the beginning of who I am as an artist. It just so happens that the subject matter fits into the show, and the musical style fits into the show really well,” she explained.

Shadowhunters airs Monday, August 14th on Freeform.
