Xolo Maridueña Talks Upcoming 'Blue Beetle' Movie: 'I Haven't Tried on the Suit'

Xolo Maridueña is dishing on his upcoming DC Comics movie Blue Beetle!

The 20-year-old Cobra Kai actor will be starring in the title role, playing Jamie Reyes, the latest teen to take on the Blue Beetle mantle.

In a new interview with Teen Vogue, and without saying too much, he teased the upcoming movie, which is still in the pre-production stage.

“All I can think about is how exciting it’s going to be,” Xolo told the mag. “It’s going to touch on a lot of things that haven’t been touched on before in superhero movies…. I haven’t had the chance to put on the suit yet or anything like that. Once it happens, it’ll feel real.”

He also noted the importance of the movie showing representation.

“It’s special to see yourself portrayed in a positive manner,” he said. “With this project, people are going to realize that the Latino experience is not a monolith.”

Xolo even dished on another new DC Comics actor, who he hopes to follow in their career footsteps…

“He’s inspiring in terms of coming from Twilight and then doing Good Time, The Lighthouse, this new Batman movie — really killer projects,” he said of Robert Pattinson. “My goal is to play an antihero — a dark, greedy person that for some reason is doing bad things, but you’re still rooting for him.”
