The show, which originated on the DC Universe streaming service, follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Bassinger) as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.

DC’s Stargirl also stars Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Cameron Gellman, Trae Romano, Jake Austin Walker, Hunter Sansone, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson and Christopher James Baker.

In addition, the new show Kung Fu, starring Olivia Liang as Nicky Shen, has received a second season renewal.

It follows Nicky Shen, who drops out of college after a quarter-life crisis and goes on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China. But when she returns to San Francisco, she finds her hometown is overrun with crime and corruption and her own parents are at the mercy of a powerful Triad. Nicky will rely on her friends and family, as well as her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice…all while searching for the ruthless assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor Pei-Ling and is now targeting her.

The new series is the second new show on the network this year that has been greenlit for another season. The first was Jared Padelecki‘s hit new series Walker.

Kung Fu also stars Eddie Liu, Gavin Stenthouse, Jon Prasida, Kheng Hua Tan, Shannon Dang, Tony Chung, Tzi Ma and Vanessa Kai. You can currently catch the show on Wednesday nights at 8pm on The CW!
