The cast headed to social media afterwards, sending thanks to fans and sharing pics from their last table read before they film the final episode of the Freeform series.

“I’m smiling in a lot of these photos but you just can’t see the tears,” Hayden wrote. “Reading the final episode of the series is unreal and it’s all hitting us pretty hard. Can’t wait for you guys to see such an incredible and beautiful episode.”

Maia added, “Our last table read & it’s starting to sink in. Mostly feeling grateful for such a magical five and something years, I love this group of people more than anything.”

Cierra Ramirez shared her thoughts on her Instagram stories, saying, that “the final table read was brutal. I don’t know if I can recover.”

She added later, “My forever family. I will always be grateful for all of the lessons and memories this show has given me. Thank you, @thefosterstv.”

Ximena looks ready to get out of the church in this new still from The Fosters.

In tonight’s episode, Ximena’s lawyer and Poppy fight for her right to leave the church after the press on her situation.

Meanwhile, Brandon and Grace plan the ultimate senior prank which ends up going a little too far; and Mariana and Mat make a huge decision about the future of their relationship.

After news about The Fosters cancellation earlier this month, all we wanted to do was scream at Freeform for that decision — however, we’re still excited about the spinoff coming with Callie and Mariana.

“We found out a couple minutes before the [press] release came out, and it was surprisingly emotional and sad, and then exciting and also devastating,” Maia Mitchell shared with TVLine about how they heard about the news.

However, they’re still looking forward to what the spinoff would bring for the sisters.

“There are going to be appearances from all your Fosters favorites, so it’s not just going to be our show,” Maia promises. “There are going to be new series regulars and new characters, and still the same amount of representation as we’ve had on The Fosters, and the same topics. It’s [the] same but different.”

And as for that other cast member joining the show — while Hayden Byerly didn’t confirm it was Jude, we’re still hoping.

“I would imagine so [that he'd join them sometime]. It’s the two girls on their own. But the great thing is, throughout your life, you do still have your family, whether they’re a voice in the back of your head…It’s someone that’s always influential in your life, always kind of there when you need them to be.”

Hayden adds that “everyone on the show is super excited and super stoked for the new beginnings and the new happenings that are going to continue on. Because while it’s the end of the Fosters family, this is the new beginning of The Fosters. This is just a little segment of that, and it’s incredible, and we’re all really excited for it.”

In tonight’s ep, called “#IWasMadeInAmerica”, Callie teams up with Elliot and Shawn to support Ximena at a conservative anti-immigration rally, which gets a lot of buzz for Ximena’s plight.

Meanwhile, an unlikely source offers a key piece of evidence that may help save Anchor Beach from going private and the family celebrates Stef’s (Teri Polo) birthday.

The three Fosters actors joined Elliot Fletcher at the event to talk about what’s ahead for the show.

Speaking with TVGuide recently, EP Joanna Johnson opened up about what’s coming ahead for Mariana.

“Mariana’s still struggling to grow up a bit,” she revealed. “You know she’s still kind of young at heart and a little young in the maturity department. She’s going to find herself.”

She adds, “Mariana starts to realize in the season that this is her junior year and this is her year to really impress colleges not only with grades but with her activities…she starts to realize that she dropped the ball on some other things like robotics and sort of gotten distracted from preparing for going to college.”

Beyond‘s Jeff Pierre, Eden Brolin and Oscar Camacho, Ally Maki, Allison Holker and husband Stephen “tWitch” Boss were also at the event.

In tonight’s episode, while Callie (Maia Mitchell) actively helps to make Ximena’s fight visible, and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) has her pick of boyfriends; Brandon (David Lambert) and Grace (Meg DeLacy) start to struggle to be intimate knowing her cancer diagnosis.

“It’s kind of hard to tell him not to be there to take care of Grace because she’s sick,” EP Joanna Johnson recently shared about the duo’s relationship. “So I think our moms and everybody [is] worried that Brandon will continue to lose himself.”

She adds, “On the other hand, we also, I think, can find him rather heroic and I’m thinking that everyone’s going to really fall in love with Brandon this year because of kind of how amazing and how strong he is with Grace and helping her find her way through this.”
