While the season is coming to a close, this isn’t the end of Motherland: Fort Salem. It was just announced this week that the series has been picked up for a second season, set to air in 2021!

“here comes season 2! @motherlandtv so proud of everyone who made this happen. we were all moved to tears this morning. season 1 finale tomorrow night! thank you all!!,” Taylorshared.

The three actresses went on the series to chat about their new Freeform show Motherland: Fort Salem.
During their interview, Taylor opened up about how she thinks that their show differs from other shows about witchcraft.
“One thing I think Motherland does so well that no other show seems to shed light on, is just the divinity and the true meaning of what Wiccan culture,” she said.
“I think it’s so demonized. It’s such a misunderstood community, and it’s so much about femininity, and light, and supporting each other. Healing,” Taylor added.

The Freeform series revealed the date and a new trailer at the 2020 Winter TCA Press Tour held at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena on Friday (January 17) in Pasadena, Calif.
The premiere date for the 10-episode, one-hour drama is set for March 18 at 9 p.m. EDT/PDT.
Here’s the synopsis: “Set in an alternate, present-day America where witches ended their persecution 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the burgeoning U.S. government to fight for their country, Motherland: Fort Salem follows three young women from basic training in combat magic into terrifying and thrilling
early deployment. In this world, the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped, with women on
the front lines fighting looming terrorist threats that are strikingly familiar to our world, but with
supernatural tactics and weapons.”
At the event, Nicole said about creator Eliot Laurence (via Deadline), βHe has the world in his head.” Demetria added, βTo understand the power women possess and to have a man (Laurence) understand that, itβs been a joy, an honor and a pleasure.β
