During the panel, Legends of Tomorrow unveiled three new characters that would join the universe — Obsidian, Stargirl and Dr. Mid-Nite. It was also announced that the team would be facing off against TV’s first-ever team of Super-Villains: the Legion of Doom (Malcolm Merlyn, Damien Darhk [Neal McDonough], the Reverse-Flash [Matt Letscher] and Captain Cold [Wentworth Miller]).
Caity is also pictured at the EW Comic Con Party later that night, while Dominic was seen with girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord at the Fox Fanfare party a few nights before.
The 29-year-old Legends of Tomorrow actress opened up about her career choice and being proud of portraying Sara Lance on screen. Check it:
On her expectations for Sara Lance: “I remember going in and thinking, ‘If I actually get the job, I don’t wanna play the role like a typical female CW character. I wanna play her strong, independent and edgy.’ It’s really fun to be able to play such a complicated and capable woman. On Arrow, the role was a lot heavier; there’s something about her that’s samurai-like. On Legends [of Tomorrow], she gets to be funny and very sarcasticthat’s a lot of fun, too.”
On portraying a bisexual character: “Because Sara Lance is bisexualsomething that’s not yet widely portrayed on TVa lot of girls who are bisexual or lesbian tell me how much it means to them to see someone like her. And that’s pretty cool. I like the way the writing staff treated Sara’s story, that her sexuality isn’t a big deal, it’s just the way she is. It’s normal.”
On labeling herself a black sheep: “I didn’t even think about acting until I took classes when I was 21. No one in my family is in the artsnot even close. I’m the black sheep in that sense.”
The 29-year-old DC’s Legends of Tomorrow actress opened up about her fanbase, Sara Lance and more. Check it:
On being accepted by the comic book fans: “I feel very grateful to be embraced by the community even though my whole character is pretty much nothing like the comics. There was no Sara Lance, there was no ‘Canary’ only ‘Black Canary’, and the ‘White Canary’ in the comics is totally different. Though Sara Lance does really capture the essence of badassery that is at the heart of these comic book characters, so hopefully that counts for something.”
On fans from Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: “Amazing, touching, and sometimes weird. I’m super lucky to be able to travel all over the world and meet fans, it blows my mind how universal shows like Arrow and LOT are. Stories people tell me about how they’ve been inspired or empowered by my character melt my heart. A lot of LGBT fans really appreciate Sara representing a bisexual character and I love that I get to be a part of that. Fan interactions can be kind of weird as well. Like when people stare at you or take sly pictures but don’t actually come up to you. It makes me paranoid.”
On keeping herself grounded: “I have a very good crew around me. We’ve all been best friends for over 10 years and they don’t let me forget who I am. I think I’m actually pretty good about not taking it personally. I’ve done a lot of work (and am still working) to raise my self-esteem and that’s like a bulletproof vest. How do you raise your self-esteem? Accept and embrace who you are and how you look. Which is easier said than done I know, but it’s possible and the only person standing in your way is you.”
