DC’s Stargirl is getting a new villain in season two!

The series’ showrunner Geoff Johns dished on the new addition during a panel at the 2020 New York Comic Con on Sunday (October 11).

“I’m so excited for Eclipso. He’s so terrifying. I’ve always loved the character,” he said. “He’s a very different antagonist or villain than the ISA. We’re just starting to cast him, so we’re looking for that. And I’ve got these wonderful designs from [specialty costume designer] L.J. Shannon on what he’s going to look like. But it’s such a different, darker, scarier threat.”

But wait… we’re also going to see a lot of another new villain in season two!

“We’re going to see a lot of the Shade,” Geoff also revealed. “He’s another main character that’s going to be coming into season 2. He’s a pretty famous and popular character from James Robinson‘s run on Starman… He’s an immortal that’s been around for hundreds of years. He’s a member of the ISA… and he was the only member of the ISA who wasn’t present in Blue Valley today, but we saw him when the shadow hand grabbed Dr. Mid-Nite in the opening of the pilot.”

During the DC FanDome event, the series creator and executive producer Geoff Johns dished some details on the new season.

“I’m excited for people to see more of Grundy. He’s not gone just yet. [There’s a] cool story idea for Grundy coming up,” he said.

“One of the important things at the end of season one is when we introduce Eclipso, that’s very important,” Geoff added. “We will definitely be playing with things like the pink pen in season two.”

He also shared that they will continue to bring more people from the universe.

“We do have so many other things to explore with these characters, and other avenues and other characters to meet and introduce, we’ll do it the best we can and we’ll do it at our own pace,” Geoff said. “But we’ll definitely be playing with things like the pink pen in season two.”

The season one finale of DC’s Stargirl premieres TODAY (August 10) on the DC Universe app!

Star Brec Bassinger recently opened up about the two part finale and she shared a fun little anecdote about the final scene of the season.

“I feel like there’s so much chaos, in these last two episodes in particular, with Grundy, with Shiv. Ugh. Oh my gosh,” Brec told Decider.

“Okay, this is really fun. So there’s actually a scene that was originally written in the pilot. But it didn’t make sense yet,” she continued. “It’s in this, it’s the very, very last scene of the season. It’s so beautiful. Be expecting lots of chaos, when it comes to the villain/hero stuff. But then also, when it comes to Pat and Courtney, there’s some really great [scenes].”

You can catch part two of the season finale of DC’s Stargirl TODAY (August 10) on the DC Universe app, or you can tune in TOMORROW (August 11) to watch it on The CW!

Luke Wilson Dishes On Upcoming 'DC's Stargirl' Season Finale & Season 2!

Luke Wilson is opening up about the season one finale of DC’s Stargirl!

The actor, who plays Pat Dugan / S.T.R.I.P.E. on the superhero show, revealed what we can expect in a couple of weeks.

“I think you’re going to learn a lot more about the Injustice Society’s plan — not just for Blue Valley, but for world domination. And there’s an epic battle at the end…. In the best way, it’s a mixture of a big finale and also some closure, but when you look at the overall picture, there’s still major turmoil underneath the surface,” Luke told TV Line.

He also dished about how he’s already seen some plot points before a season two was even announced!

“I remember when we were making the show, I’d go to [creator] Geoff Johns’ office and just kind of sit on the couch and read, and one day when I was in there, there was a big white board just sitting there. I looked up at the board, and there’s all this writing and all these plot points,” he shared.

“At the time I was already kind of overwhelmed with the Justice Society, the Injustice Society, the Seven Soldiers of Victory… remembering all these names… so I was like, ‘OK, what the hell is this? How am I going to learn all this [for Season 1]?’” Luke continued. “And then Geoff walked in, like, ‘Oh, that’s Season 2. We’re already breaking it down.’ I was like, ‘Thank God!’ So yeah, those guys have already got it all planned out. I don’t know what the plan is, but…”
